Bangkok Jam

Recently, met up with my travel khakis for a pre-trip dinner (Yup, I'm travelling again.. hee.. can't wait)
We went to Bangkok Jam at the new wing in Plaza Singapura.
It's a weekday night, but most of the eateries had a snaking queue, especially the HK dim sum restaurant that got Singaporeans queuing for fun again.

Soft-shell crab in Mellow Yellow Curry
Yummy! I've never tasted this dish before and it's really nice! and unique

Three flavour noodle crisp with shrimp
This is good if you like eating crispy beehoon (usually found in Chinese dishes where the bee hoon is deep friend to taste like koropo). Unique because the noodles are cooked in something akin to tomato sauce.

Seafood in Red Tom Yum
It's a really small bowl suited for one person only. I'm a Tom Yum glutton, and this tastes normal to my picky palate. I heard the Clear Tom Yum is much better

Mixed Grill
Doesn't look too appealing does it? It was not hot when it arrived at our table. The meat for all the items are tender and easy to chew. But doesn't leave a taste to remember at all, as it was not marinated. I think Happycall would have done it better.

In my humble opinion, grill is probably ate best next to the grill, when it's piping hot and you are being surrounded by the smoke. Best if you're eating the grill while facing the sea, hearing the waves, and feeling the breeze. Haha.. fantasying again

Asparagus with Sambal
Unique aint it? That's why we decided to try this out. But this is quite a bad combo, or maybe the vegetables were feeling the heat, because they taste bitter.

The decoration was pretty unique too, but I find the tables too small for the purpose of sharing food.

All in all, some of the dishes blew us away with their uniqueness, others just pale in comparison. For the price we paid, it is unfortunately too much for the quality we received.
They have an outlet in Malaysia and Taiwan too, and here's the Malaysia menu (as the Singapore one is not available): http://www.bangkokbeat.com.my/content/BBB_Menu_Malaysia.pdf

With such a unique menu, there's room for improvement in the quality. I hope they do, as they had something good in the planning, and then we could try the other dishes.

I had to ask for warm water twice. The staff looked bored and lacked energy, could that explain why the food was generally luke warm?

Tables are way too small

Cost: 35++
