Japan: Kyoto VIII - Keifuku Railway Line

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Ninna-ji Temple, exit from the main gate, and the traffic light crossing would be right in front of you
Cross it, and continue walking downhill in the same direction, and it'll get you to their local trains, Keifufu Railway lines. It is the only streetcar left in Kyoto, and is good for visiting western Kyoto.
With two lines only - Arashiyama line and Kitano line, it is easy travel. Trains comes every 15 minutes to their small and quaint stations
The friendly train conductors are also available for advice =)
You may access the pdf map here (English) http://randen.keifuku.co.jp/railmap/pdf/pdf_railmap_04.pdf. It provides a very clear illustration of the attractions around too.
We boarded the train at B5 Omuro Ninnaji (Kitano Line), and just take a seat. Payment is made when you alight. See the little box behind the driver? That's where you drop your coins or tap your transport card. 200 yen per trip.
When you reach the end of a train line, the payment is collected at the gates by a conductor rather than on the train. To change trains to the Arashiyama line, we'd to cross the tracks to get to the other side.
If you are going to catch the Arashiyama 's Sagano Scenic Railway  at the Torokko Saga station, alight at A13 Randen Saga. If you are going straight to Arashiyama, alight at the last station A14.
Right! And that concludes the Keifuku Railway lines trip. Moving on the Sagano Scenic Railway ride next!
